"For the people; by the people"

Founded back in the early 1800s, Weeping Meadows previously known as Darkhaven was well known not only for their devastating numbers in slaves, but one of the last towns to give up those rights. After Mayor Charles Morris was elected into office he decided to bring his community back from despair by renaming the town to honor all that had been treated poorly or had perished. Charles was a very righteous man and believed fully in the church and it's ability to change the town for the better. Though the bill made for church to be mandatory was never passed, it did push most into going by their own free will.
Weeping Meadows is now well known for their warm hospitality and well rounded community. The towns people do everything in their power to make the town feel welcoming. With farmers making their way into town during the summers and falls for weekly markets, to afternoon teas at the Buzzing Bee Bed & Breakfast on Sundays after church. The town has made it their goal to hold organized events, fairs, and even bbqs in the park! Not to mention the recent push in equestrianism after building the stables and race track.
Though you would say there was a high calling for religion, the town itself has adopted Hoodoo as a 'safe' practice. The Church however does still feel strongly against it. Seeing as the culture was formed by the slaves and is told to be used for protection and healing purposes they've decided to hold their tongue, but have not turned a blind eye to it.

The marsh is now proclaimed to be haunted by the women in the white laced dress, also known as Beatrice Ward. Widowed by her husband in the civil war, it is rumored Beatrice sacrificed herself in hopes to be reunited in another life. With the death being tied to witchcraft, the Church disallowed for resale, believing that it would forever be tainted by it. It now sits, abandoned in the middle of the island, the path to it taken over by the never ending vegetation.
